Navigate with the Sidebar
The Closot sidebar is your workspace's backbone. It keeps your content structured, surfaceable, and always within reach 🧭
Sidebar Basics
The sidebar lets you:
- Nest pages inside pages with no depth limit — your hierarchy can go as deep as you need
- Use toggles to expand or collapse sections and see exactly what's where
- Drag and drop pages anywhere to restructure your workspace on the fly
Open and close the sidebar using the >> and << buttons.
Top Sidebar Tools

Sidebar Sections
Click any section label — Workareas, Shared, or Private — to collapse it.
Private Pages
Your Private section holds content only visible to you. To customize it:
- Hover over any **Private page ** and click
••• - Select Rename to rename the page
- Select Share to share the page
- Select Move to Public Pages to move the page
- Select Delete to delete the page
Dragging a page from a shared section into Private immediately removes access for everyone else.
Workarea Pages
Your sidebar shows:
- The default workarea all members belong to
- Any additional workareas you've joined
To leave a workarea: hover over its name, click •••, then choose Leave workarea.
Nested Pages
Click the toggle next to any page in the sidebar to reveal pages nested inside it. Every nested page has the same full functionality as a top-level page. Database pages show a • indicator — tap the toggle to see different views of that database.
Settings & Templates
Found at the very bottom of the sidebar:
- Settings — Configure your Closot preferences
- Templates — Browse 50+ starter templates to jumpstart any project
You can't edit a page that's sitting in Trash. Restore it first.
Create Pages in Your Sidebar
Several ways to add a new page:
- Hover over a workarea name and click the
+that appears - Click
+next to the Private section label - Click the 📝 button at the top of the sidebar (new page opens in your Private section by default)
- Hover over any existing page and click
+to nest a new page inside it
Edit Your Sidebar
- Nest a page: Drag it on top of another page — the target highlights blue when it's ready to accept
- Unnest a page: Drag it out from under its parent and drop it at the indent level you want
Dragging a page from a shared or workarea section into Private cuts access for all other members.
Resize or Hide Your Sidebar
- Resize: Click and drag the right edge of the sidebar
- Collapse/expand: Click the
<<icon to hide it, click>>to bring it back - Hide a section: Click the section heading to toggle it closed
Delete Pages
How to remove a page:
- Hover over it in the sidebar, click
•••, and select Delete
