Suggested Edits
Suggested edits let you propose additions or deletions to a page without those changes being applied automatically. Instead, they show up as pending suggestions that the page owner can review and either accept or reject. It's a structured way to collaborate on content without overwriting what's already there — particularly useful for editorial reviews, policy documents, or any page where changes need sign-off before going live.
How to Suggest Edits
- Click
•••at the top of a page - Select Suggest edits
While in suggest mode, Suggesting appears at the top of the page. Any text you add or delete is treated as a suggestion — not a direct edit.
Your proposed changes appear in the page sidebar as suggestion cards. You can add a comment to each suggestion to explain your reasoning or provide context for the reviewer.
Exit Suggest Mode
Click the X next to the Suggesting label at the top, or return to ••• → Stop suggesting.
Permissions
You must have Can comment access or higher to suggest edits on a page.
Suggested edits are unavailable if:
- The page is locked
- You don't have sufficient permissions on the page
Supported Block Types
Suggestions only work on the following block types:
- Text (paragraph)
- Headings
- To-do list items
- Bulleted list items
- Numbered list items
The following do not support suggestions:
- Inline databases
- Database properties
- Pages opened in peek view
Reviewing and Responding to Suggestions
As a page owner or editor, each suggestion appears in the sidebar with options to:
- ✔️ Accept — applies the suggested change to the page
- ❌ Reject — dismisses the suggestion without changing the page
- React with an emoji
- Reply with a comment
Prevent Suggestions
To stop anyone from suggesting edits on your page, lock it:
Click ••• at the top of the page → toggle Lock page
Locked pages prevent both direct edits and suggested edits.
