If an image upload fails due to size, try uploading it as a file instead. Files can also be uploaded via the Closot file upload API.

Supported File Types​

HEIC ICO JPEG JPG PNG TIF TIFF GIF SVG PDF WEBP WAV OGG

Videos from YouTube, Vimeo, and other major streaming platforms can be embedded directly.

Images​

Add images by uploading from your computer, embedding by URL, or pulling from Unsplash.

To insert an image:

  1. Hover a new line → click + → select Image → press Enter
  2. Or type /image and press Enter
  3. Choose: Upload (from your computer), Embed link (paste a URL), or Unsplash (free stock photos)

Hyperlinking an Image​

  1. Hover the image → click ••• or ⋮⋮ → Add link
  2. Paste a URL or select a Closot page as the destination

Files​

Store any file type directly inside a Closot page.

To create a file block:

  1. Hover a new line → click + → select File → press Enter
  2. Or type /file and press Enter
  3. Choose Upload or Embed link

You can also drag a file directly from your desktop onto a page — Closot uploads and stores it automatically.

Files in Databases​

  1. Add a Files & media property to your database
  2. Click the property cell to upload or embed a file
  3. You can also drag files into table cells, board cards, or gallery items

Videos​

Embed from a Streaming Service​

  1. Hover a new line → click + → select Video → press Enter
  2. Or type /video and press Enter
  3. Select Embed link, paste the video URL, click Embed video
  4. Alternative: paste the URL directly → select Create embed

Upload a Personal Video​

  1. Click + → select Video → Upload → choose your file
  2. Or drag a video file directly onto the page — Closot converts it to a custom player automatically

Playback depends on your browser and OS. If a format isn't supported natively, the video may not play directly inside Closot.

Audio​

Embed from a Streaming Platform​

  1. Click + → select Audio → Embed link → paste the track or playlist URL
  2. Or type /audio → Enter → Embed link

Upload from Your Computer​

  1. Click + → select Audio → Upload → pick your audio file
  2. Or drag the file onto the page — Closot converts it to an inline audio player

Web Bookmarks​

Add a rich link preview — with title, icon, and source — for any URL.

To insert a web bookmark:

  1. Click + → select Web Bookmark → press Enter
  2. Or type /bookmark → Enter
  3. On mobile: paste a URL → select Create bookmark

Paste the URL and press Enter — the bookmark renders automatically.

Media Block Options​

Arrange and Resize​

  • Drag blocks using the ⋮⋮ handle to move them anywhere on the page
  • Drag into a column to place side by side
  • Hover the block to see black resize handles on left and right edges — drag to resize

Crop​

  1. Hover the image → ••• → Crop image
  2. Adjust the crop area
  3. Click Save

Mask​

Give a media block a non-rectangular shape:

  1. Hover image → ••• → Crop image
  2. Click the shapes icon in the top-left corner
  3. Choose a masking shape
  4. Click Save

Align​

  1. Hover the media block → click the alignment icon (square with lines)
  2. Choose Left, Center, or Right

Alignment controls are hidden when the block fills the full content width or is already at its maximum width.

Caption​

  1. Hover → click the caption icon (square with lines underneath)
  2. A gray text field appears below the media — edit it like any other text

Alt Text​

  1. Hover image → ••• → Alt text
  2. Type a descriptive label and press Enter
  3. Hover over the ALT badge in the corner to preview the text
tip

Keep alt text short and specific. Tailor it to the context of the page. Instead of "Two people in a room," write something like "A teacher explains a concept to a student in a classroom setting."

Download​

  • Desktop/Web: Hover the media block → click the download icon (circle with down arrow)
  • Mobile: Tap ••• at the top right → View original → long-press to save to camera roll

View Full Screen or Original​

  • Hover image → click Original to open in a new tab at native resolution
  • Full screen: hover → ••• → Full screen, or select the block and press Spacebar

Replace​

  1. Hover → ••• → Replace
  2. Upload a new file or embed from another source

Comment​

  1. Hover the block → click the speech bubble icon
  2. Or hover → ••• → Comment
  3. Use @ + name to mention a teammate in the comment

Delete​

  1. Hover → click ••• (top right) or ⋮⋮ (left)
  2. Or right-click the block
  3. Select Delete
