Integrations

Work rarely lives in one tool. Closot integrates with the apps your team already uses so that context travels with the work — a Linear issue, a Figma file, or a Salesforce record shows its real state inside the page discussing it, instead of sitting behind a link nobody clicks.

Integrations come in a few different shapes, and knowing which is which tells you what setup a given app needs.

Types of Integration

CapabilityWhat it doesSetup needed
Link previewPaste a link from the app and it renders as a live preview showing the item's current stateConnect the app once
SyncPulls items from the app into a Closot database that keeps itself up to dateConnect the app once
ImportA one-time migration of pages and databases from another tool into ClosotConnect the app once
EmbedDisplays the app's content inline in the pageNone — just paste the link
BetaAvailable but still being refined; behavior may changeConnect the app once

The practical difference is that embeds need no connection at all. Everything else authenticates against your account in that app, so Closot can read the item and show its live state.

Connect an App

  1. Open Settings → Connections
  2. Find the app under Discover new connections
  3. Click Connect and complete the sign-in flow in that app
  4. Review the access being requested and approve it

The app moves up into the Connected list, with the account it's connected as shown on the card.

Manage or Remove a Connection

Click Manage on any connected app:

  • Reconnect — re-authorize, which is the fix when previews stop loading or the token expires
  • Delete — remove the connection entirely

Removing a connection stops previews from refreshing. Content already imported into Closot stays where it is.

Available Connections

Capability tags on each card tell you what that app can do.

AppCapabilities

These are one-time migrations rather than ongoing syncs. For file-based migration from any other tool, see Import Data into Closot.

Embeds

Embeds need no connection. Paste the link on a page and the content renders inline.

Video and audio — YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Spotify, SoundCloud

Design and whiteboards — Canva, Miro, Sketch, Whimsical, Lucidchart, including Lucidspark

Data and dashboards — Tableau, Mixpanel, Graphy, Airtable, Streamlit

Code — CodePen, CodeSandbox, Replit

Forms and scheduling — Typeform, Google Forms, Calendly

Other — Google Maps, X (Twitter), Pinterest, LottieFiles

Each embed card in Settings → Connections has a How to use link with the specifics for that service. For the mechanics of embedding, bookmarks, and link mentions, see Embed & Connect Other Apps.

Closot MCP

The Model Context Protocol lets external AI tools take actions inside Closot — creating pages, querying databases, and editing content on your behalf, rather than just reading a copy of it.

Open Settings → Closot MCP:

  • Discover lists the MCP clients that can connect to Closot's server. Claude is supported today.
  • Manage lists the active connection tokens you've created for this workspace.
note

Each token acts with your permissions. A connected client can reach exactly what you can reach — no more, no less — so treat a token like a password and delete any you no longer use.

Choosing the Right Integration

  • Just showing something? Use an embed or a link preview. No sync, no setup burden.
  • Need the data to be queryable in Closot? Use an app with sync, so items land in a database you can filter, sort, and relate to other work.
  • Leaving another tool behind? Use import. It's a migration, not a live link.
  • Want an AI tool to act in Closot? Use Closot MCP.
