List View

List view is the default and most versatile way to look at a Closot database. It feels like a spreadsheet — rows of items, columns of properties — but every row is also a full page you can open and write inside. It's the best view for getting a complete picture of your entire dataset at once.

Create a List View​

New Full-Page List Database​

  1. Create a new page in your workspace
  2. Under "Get started with," click ••• → List

Inline List​

Type /List view on any existing page and press Enter. The List appears as an embedded block inside that page. Use the ⤢ expand button at the top right to open it as a full-page database.

Add List View to an Existing Database​

  1. Click + next to your current view name at the top of the database
  2. Select List from the view type dropdown

Closot also offers simple (non-database) Lists — these are plain block-level Lists for displaying text content without database features. If you just need a static comparison grid or reference List, use /List instead of /List view.

Bulk Editing​

You can select and edit multiple rows at once without opening each item individually.

To select rows:

  • Hover over any row — a checkbox appears on the left side of the row
  • Click the checkbox to select that row
  • Click the checkbox next to the Name column header to select all rows
  • Hold Shift and click a second row to select everything in between

Once rows are selected, an action bar appears at the top with options to bulk-edit properties, delete, duplicate, or move the selected items.

Customization Features​

Rearranging Rows and Columns​

Rows: Hover over any row to reveal the ⋮⋮ drag handle on the left side. Click and hold it, then drag the row to a new position.

Columns: Click and hold any column header, then drag it left or right. You can also resize columns by hovering over the right edge of a column header until a resize cursor appears, then dragging.

Alternative column ordering: Open settings → Property visibility → use the ⋮⋮ handles to drag properties into a different order without touching the column headers.

Wrap Cell Content​

Long text values in List cells are truncated by default. To make cells expand vertically to show the full content:

  1. Click the column header of the property you want to wrap
  2. Select Wrap text

When enabled, cells grow to display their full content across multiple lines instead of cutting off with an ellipsis.

Calculations Row​

At the bottom of each column, Closot can display a calculation summarizing all values in that column. Available calculations depend on the property type:

Available for all property types:

  • Count all, Count values, Count unique values, Count empty, Count not empty, Percent empty, Percent not empty, Earliest date, Latest date, Date range

Additional for Number properties:

  • Sum, Average, Median, Min, Max, Range

To add a calculation:

  1. Click the property column header
  2. Hover over Calculate
  3. Select the calculation you want
